shape your future with Additive Manufacturing

Welcome to your Additive Manufacturing journey

Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), can open up unique possibilities for your organisation that you could only dream of a few years ago, by saving you time, money and creating new markets opportunities. Not to mention it can be a whole lot of fun!

IDEA-DESIGN-PRINT: It's as easy as 1-2-3D

"an excellent introduction to additive manufacturing, exceeded my expectations. Many thanks Matthew"

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING TRAINING

Select a training course for your team or speak to us about how we can help you use Additive Manufacturing to make your business more efficient.

A guide to additive manufacturing (3D printing) training course

Additive Manufacturing Foundations

3hrs

Gain knowledge of the principles, benefits and applications of 3D printing/ Additive Manufacturing (AM) and understand the range of AM processes and their characteristics.

During this course you will learn how to get started designing and printing your own 3D parts at home and the benefits it brings to integrating into traditional manufacturing industries.

Duration: 2 x 1.5 hour sessions online

Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) using FFF/FDM printing

Additive Manufacturing impacts on business

3hrs

Improve the efficiency of your business by understanding what additive manufacturing can do and how it can optimise your supply chain and manufacturing processes.

Key topics include:

  • Where is additive manufacturing now?
  • Supply chain evolution
  • Part design and optimisation
  • Making a business case

Duration: 2 x 1.5 hour sessions online

Both courses can be combined for a full day session. SEE BELOW FOR DETAILED COURSE OVERVIEWS

The 7 Process Categories of Additive Manufacturing

Course 1: additive manufacturing FOUNDATIONS

Course Overview

During this interactive course, you will gain knowledge of the benefits and applications of Additive Manufacturing (AM) and understand the range of AM processes and their characteristics so that you can use them in your organisation or at home just for the fun of it.

The course will take you through the steps required to consider the use of AM in your business.
Learn about the properties of materials, the manufacturing methods available and even create your own 3D printable design. You will design your own 3D printed part using an easy to follow example, and watch the design ‘come to life’ on a 3D printer.

Case studies from leading industry innovators will be presented demonstrating the design thinking required to utilise and adapt additive manufacturing in an industrial setting.

Key topics

  • Product design process
  • Properties of materials
  • Traditional manufacturing methods
  • Additive Manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Materials for 3D printing
  • Advantages and limitations of Additive Manufacturing
  • Design thinking for additive manufacturing
  • Industry case studies

Part 1 - Designing a product

Part 2 - Materials and manufacturing methods

Part 3 - Additive manufacturing processes and technologies

Part 4 - Design thinking considerations and case studies

How will I benefit?

  • Gain knowledge of properties of materials and traditional manufacturing methods
  • Learn about the processes and technologies involved in additive manufacturing
  • Discover how to get started designing and printing your own parts
  • Combine these skills to gain a better understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of the additive manufacturing process and utilise them to improve your own product designs at home and in the workplace

Course 2: ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING impacts on business

Course Overview

Improve the efficiency of your business by understanding what additive manufacturing can do and how it can optimise your supply chain and manufacturing processes.

Learn about the seven key additive manufacturing processes such as stereolithography, material extrusion, materials jetting and powder bed fusion. Explore how the design and manufacturing choices you make can have an effect on the business including supply chain and product design.

Between the 2 sessions, you will be given an exercise to optimise a part design, before being shown how additive manufacturing can optimise the part even further.

Using everything you have learnt throughout the course, identify the key steps to evaluate the business model and develop a business case to integrate additive manufacturing into your business.

Key topics

  • Where is manufacturing now?
  • Understanding Additive manufacturing
  • Supply chain evolution - near or far?
  • Part design and optimisation
  • Making a business case

How will I benefit?

After the course you will be able to:

  • Gain knowledge of the key additive manufacturing processes
  • Understand how your choices impact the supply chain
  • Be able to identify key areas for part design optimisation
  • Develop a business model and business case to use AM in your organisation
